Alric & Boyd

Alric & Boyd are the duo who brought house music to Jamaica. Boyd James has been behind the decks since 1984, Alric Anglin since 1988; they joined forces in 1992 and brought an open-minded approach to the turntables at a time when Kingston lived for dancehall. With their show The Edge on FAME FM they introduced house and electronic sounds to a whole generation, before throwing the Hill House Jam in 1996, widely regarded as the island’s very first rave: some 500 people danced until 10 am. Founding members of the Federation Sound collective, they have also produced across reggae, dancehall and hip-hop, working with Sly & Robbie, Jill Scott, Sean Paul and Beenie Man. Thirty years on, they remain the reference of the Jamaican House Movement: sets that blend New York house groove with the energy of the Jamaican sound system. Pioneers, mentors and still very much active, at We Love House they embody the link between the 90s underground scene and the premium gathering on Pineapple Beach.
